AHMEDABAD : THE MANCHESTER OF THE EAST

Ahmedabad, popularly known as 'Amdavad' the largest city of Gujarat is situated on the banks of river Sabarmati.  Ahmedabad was the capital city of Gujarat from 1960 to 1970. Ahmedabad is the 5th largest city and 7th largest metropolitan area of India, having population of more than 5.5 million. The city is also known as the "City of Ahmed Shah" as founded by Sultan Ahmed Shah in 1411. Gujarat is the center of trade and commerce in the state of Gujarat, as well as well known in field of higher education, IT Sector and Science. Ahmedabad is also well know for its textile industry and popularly known as "The Manchester of East".
Ahmedabad was incorporated into the Bombay Presidency during the British rule but remained the most important city in the Gujarat region. Over a period of time, Ahmedabad established itself as the home of textile industry and earned the nickname of "The Manchester of the East" A rising center of higher education, information technology and scientific industries, Ahmedabad continues to remain one of the important cultural and commercial centers of western India.






People of Ahmedabad, India are very lively and cherish each and every moment of their lives. They believe in living life in a very simplistic manner. When it is the time for festivity, the whole city gets excited and celebrates the festive occasion with zest and zeal.
Full of energy of enthusiasm, you will never find an Ahmedabad people sitting idle. They will always be busy with one or the other work. Ahmedabadi people are very fond of shopping. That is the reason why, the shopping malls are mushrooming in number. Other popular places include picnic spots, theaters  and water parks. Ahmedabad is a place full of colors. Wherever you'll go, you'll get to see people clad in colorful dressing attire. Ahmedabad people are very fun loving and have a lot of respect for the traditions and customs of their community. Places to visit in Ahmedabad are Sabarmati Ashram, Kankaria Lake, Akshardham Temple, ISKCON Temple, Gulmohar Greens, Gujarat Science City, Shanku's Water Park etc..

  2. Hi..Thanks for writing about Ahmedabad tourism, the largest city in the state of Gujarat. During this summer season, plan a day out at Shanku Water Park which has some crazy and fun-filled rides such as Zip Zap Zoom, Aqua Tube, Wave Pool, Aqua Shuttle, Lazy River and Wet Disco.
