JAMNAGAR : THE OIL CITY OF INDIA

Jamnagar is a city situated in the western part of India in the state of Gujarat. It is well known as the 'Oil City of India'. This city was built up substantially by Maharaja Kumar Shri Ranjitsinhji in the 1920s, when it was known as Nawanagar. First princely state of Jamnagar was the Great Jam Rawal Northen Coast of Kathiwar in 1535 A.D. The city lies just to the south of the Gulf of kucth. Jamnagar is the only city where all three defence forces, the  airforce base, navy camp and army camp have set their training centres.  Recently in Jamnagar Reliance industries, the India's largest private company established the world's largest oil refinery near the village of Moti Khavdi. It is also home to an Essar Oil refinery, located near the town of Vadinar.

And one good thing of Jamnager is the Bala Hanuman Temple famous all over the world for  continuous chanting of the mantra "Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram". Starting since 1st August, 1964, the chant is still continuing because of which the temple has earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Interesting places to visit are Darbargadh, Lakhota Fort, Willingdon Crescent, Pratap Vilas Palace, Bhujio Kotho,  Khijadia Bird Sanctuary, Marine National Park, Rozi and Bedi Ports etc..
